We decided to get Charlie from an Animal Shelter and fell in love with her as soon as we met her. Charlie was such a brilliant friend and good natured cat and everyone loved her.She had a personality of gold and was truly a fantastic family pet, she is sorely missed.

On the 29th November Charlie struggled to walk and it was the worst feeling to contact the vets as I knew she couldn't be saved but I had so much hope. The vet found that Charlie had a blood clot on her heart that had paralised her back legs and the kindest but most hurtful thing was to have Charlie put to sleep.
Charlie must have known as the night before she said her goodbyes with so much love and cuddles.
One of the funniest things she did was a recent power cut, she took the opportunity to eat the salmon off the plates whilst we couldn't see her as Charlie's favourite thing was her food!!
Charlie also loved the hot weather and was always sunbathing smothered in suncream and would stay there all day if i let her, and often teased the rabbit as if to say you can look but not touch, hence the rabbit has a teddy bear to have his wicked way with!
The day we brought her home she was THE BOSS. Charlie will always be in our hearts.

The Cat's Prayer.....
Although I am too proud to beg and may appear to be a very independent creature, I ask for your loving care and attention. I rely on you for my well being much more than you may realize. This I promise you, my benefactor, that I will not be a burden on you nor will I demand more of you than you care to give. I will be a quiet peaceful island of serenity for you to gaze upon, a soft soothing body to caress, and I shall purr with pleasure to rest your weary ears. Since I am a gourmet who appreciates different taste sensations, I pray you will give me a variety of nutritious foods and fresh water daily. You know, dear friend, how I love to go. Allow me, I pray, a warm sheltered place where I can rest peacefully and feel secure. If I am wounded in battle or suffering from disease, please tend me gently, and see that I am treated by loving and competent hands. Please protect me from the inhuman humans who would hurt and torture me for their own amusement. I am accustomed to your gentle touch and am not always suspicious nor swift enough to avoid such malicious acts. In my later years when my senses fail me and my infirmities become too great to bear, allow me the comfort and dignity that I desire for my closing days and help me gently in my pain or passing.
Hear this prayer, my dear friend, my fate depends on you.

I Thought of You Today
I woke early this morning, lifted the shade
to a sky overcast and gray.
No ray of sun to brighten my heart,
and I thought of you today.
The breezes of summer are no more
and have moved along on their way.
The crisp air of autumn has settled in,
and I thought of you today.
The crunch of the leaves under my feet,
I remembered how you loved to play,
chasing the leaves across the yard,
and I thought of you today.
As the daylight faded into dusk
and the shadows came to play,
I lit a candle and watched the flame dance,
and I thought of you today.
I crawled into bed, turned out the lamp
and glanced where you used to lay.
The tears came again, as they always do,
as I thought of you today.

Picking up the pieces of my broken heart.....
The task is rather daunting, I don't know where to start.....
I hold onto the memories and handle them with care.....
The emptiness and anguish is just too much to bare.....
There is nothing left inside of me except the tears I cry.....
'They' say it will get 'easier' as time passes by.....
The time we spent together, I will always hold so dear.....
You were taken from me much too soon,
we had still so much to share.....
Each day is full of sadness, bitterness and grief.....
I'm trying hard to 'let you go' but I am still in disbelief.....
You told me to find happiness and peace when you are gone.....
It's your presence and your strength I need, if I must carry on.....
Comfort only you can give me, may help the pain depart.....
Your loving me 'eternally', can mend my broken heart.....
Someday we'll be together to see that setting sun.....

Just this side of Heaven, before the Pearly Gates Is a sunny meadow where your pets can rest and wait. It's where the slanting sunshine meets the highest clouds, A floating bridge of rainbows, so far above the ground.
This is where we wait for you, if we have gone before, Just out of sight of mortals, just outside heaven's door; Here we play in sunshine, frolic free from age or pain, And anticipate the joyful time when we will meet again.
Every pet that's lived on Earth can bide his time, can wait, For that special person to come walking to the Rainbow Gates, And everyone who's loved a pet will find them safely here, Frolicking on Rainbow Bridge till your own time draws near.
One day there comes a feeling, a trembling in the air, And then we know it's time to run and come to meet you there, Faster and faster on that day, across Rainbow Bridge we'll run, To meet the humans we love best, come walking in the sun.
Alas my friend you cannot pass across Rainbow Bridge with me, But when your time for glory comes, waiting for you I'll be - Then together we will walk upon a path of glittering light, No more to suffer, nor to part, but to live forever side by side.

The day we met you looked lovingly at me and made such an impression,
From the time i held you I deciced to make happiness my mission,
You looked so relieved when I carried you to the car,
And then so sad as the journey home was so far.
Walking through the door I said "this is your shelter now" we love you,
And within minutes we knew that you loved us too,
You walked around so proudly and full of delight,
Adouringly close as you slept I heard you purring all night.
The next morning when i woke i panicked as i thought you were a dream,
I looked and searched everywhere and you were nowhere to be seen,
When i called your name my heart sank, thoughts running in my head,
I went back to the bedroom, pulled back the covers, you were in bed.
From that moment on we bonded like new best friends,
As i knew from my heart i'd look after you till the end,
you'd lick my hands and fall asleep at my feet,
I miss you so dearly and one day we again shall meet.
